Your Guide To Eyelash Extensions Aftercare

If you are lacking in the eyelash department and want to achieve thick and luscious lashes, then eyelash extensions from a local hair salon are the way to go for you. But how do you take care of them once they are done? Here are some tips to make your eyelash extensions last longer.

No Water Usage For Your Face, Especially Eyes

This tip is more so important after you get the extensions done immediately. You want to avoid any contact with water or moisture for at least 24 to 48 hours. The lashes need to be set along your lash line and if water or moisture gets in contact with your eyes, it’s going to lose its integrity. So, if you can, try to avoid washing your face or splashing it with water. What you can do is gently rub a wet washcloth around your face and completely avoid the eye area.

Give Your Lashes As Less Strain As Possible

The key to protecting your eyelash extensions is to make sure that you are giving them any sort of friction. Whether you are rubbing your eyes or sleeping on your side, this will exert a lot of friction on your delicate eyelash extensions.

Try to sleep on your back as much as possible, even after weeks of getting eyelash extensions, because this will prolong the life of your extensions. Also, try not to rub your eyes vigorously with your fingers otherwise you can pluck the extensions right off.

Go Gentle When Removing Makeup

Although makeup is not recommended to be used on eyelash extensions, you still want to be careful when removing your eye makeup or any makeup which is close to your lashes. You don’t want to rub your eyes a lot as this will ruin the extensions. The best way to gently remove your makeup surrounded by eyelash extensions is to use a gentle oil-based cleanser.

An oil-based cleanser gently melts away all of your makeup without you having to rub it into your skin. Just apply it for a moment and gently wipe it off with a wet towel. This will hydrate your skin as well as protect your eyelash extensions.

Comb Your Lashes

This is also a very important tip if you want your eyelash extensions to look photo ready and clump free. When you get ready for the day, take a clean mascara wand and run it through your lashes. Make sure that the wand is completely clean and there is no product on it. This wand will act as a brush for your thick eyelash extensions.

You will need to tame them every day so that they don’t look unruly and clumped up. This will also give your lash line a fuller appearance.

No Mascara Needed

When you get eyelash extensions, you can say goodbye to mascara as long as you have those extensions in your lash line. Mascara is not needed for eyelash extensions, since the new lashes are already so much more defined and dark.

Applying mascara will only ruin the lashes and removing the mascara will be a nightmare. So, save yourself from the hassle and skip mascara in your daily makeup routine. You will never even know the difference because your lashes will still look thick, defined and beautiful. Instead spend some time on any hair treatment for a better look.

Check In The Salon Often

You need to revisit the eyelash extension salon once every 4 weeks. The reason is that your eyelash extensions need to be checked and if there is any dirt or debris covering the lashes, it needs to be removed. You don’t always need to go to the salon for a touch up, sometimes it’s just for checking the lashes and making sure that they are in place and clean. Sometimes, you will also need a touch up, which is hardly a 15 to 20 minute process. More lashes are added if the area seems sparse or empty.

There you have it! With these tips from hair stylists, you will extend the life of your lash extensions and you will need to visit an eyelash extension salon a lot less, if you properly take care of them. Hypno
